Groomsmen

James Cofield | Best Man

James and Zac met their first year at Guilford where they were not only teammates on the football team, but roommates as well. It is a testament to how good a friend James is that even after dealing with Zac’s snoring for a whole year that James didn’t kill Zac and they are still friends.

David Martin

David and Zac met their first year of law school where they were in the same section and were partners in the trial team competition. David and Zac would both say they wouldn’t have gotten through law school without the other. We will leave it to you to figure out which one is actually true.

Ben Thayer

Ben is Zac’s younger brother; Ben would want it noted that he is only 2 years and 10 moths younger, not the three years that Zac would say. Ben goes by Xander and has been paid handsomely not to divulge any of the dirt he has on Zac.

Adam Thayer

Adam is Zac’s older cousin and has always been like a big brother to Zac. If you think Zac is a nerd, Adam is to blame for introducing him to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie during a Thanksgiving their families spent together in Michigan. While Zac was already interested in comics and science fiction, Adam’s encouragement certainly fueled Zac’s nerd-dom.

Eric Thompson

Eric is married to Zac’s cousin Julie. Zac first met Eric while he was in college. Zac picked Eric up from the airport in Greensboro and drove him to Durham. Zac and Eric became fast friends over their shared love of sports and other shared interests. Zac and Eric are both extremely competitive and seeing them play cards against each other would be must see television.

Jacob Bright

Jacob and Zac were teammates at Guilford. For the first four months they knew each other, Jacob honestly thought Zac’s name was Big John and was confused when people referred to Zac by his real name. Jacob and Zac lived together their senior year of college with Wesley and Turby. Zac says that living with these three men for that year changed his life and was one of the best years of his life (pre-Elise of course!).

Markas Brunson

Zac and Markas were teammates at Guilford; Markas played Defensive end and Linebacker and Zac played offensive line. Because of the positions that they played, Markas and Zac practiced against each other daily for three years with Markas getting the better of Zac the overwhelming majority of the time. Zac is grateful for Markas’s encouragement and friendship since day one.

Idrissa Smith

Idrissa and Zac are both attorneys in the Public Defender’s Office. Idrissa has been a mentor and friend to Zac since Zac’s first day as an attorney. Idrissa helped welcome Zac to the office by creating Bro-Lunch, along with co-workers Chad, Liz, and Barbara. This is a space where we can talk about all the fun and craziness of work and the things going on in our lives and still continues today.

Brandon Ratliff

Zac and Brandon met their first year of law school and were in the same section that year. Brandon was always able to help Zac see the bright side during the absurdity that is law school. Along with David and Thom, Brandon was a huge part of Zac’s success in law school and certainly helped to make those three years as memorable as possible.

Bobby Lee

Bobby and Zac met during their first year at Guilford. Bobby and Zac have gone through a lot, including everything from the lows of the horrible cafeteria food at Guilford to the joys of graduation and everything in between; including a trip to the hospital our sophomore year. Bobby is one of the most encouraging people Zac knows and Zac is glad their friendship has continued to grow since graduation.
